The Cat Lady is a minor character in Terrifier. She takes care of stray cats and owns a doll that she calls her daughter, Emily.

Biography[]

Terrifier[]

The Cat Lady first appears in a scene where Tara is drawn to the noise of cats growling. She startles Tara as she turns around, and tells her, "I didn't mean to startle you dear, you must be the new tenant." The Cat Lady introduces Tara to her "daughter", Emily, who is a small porcelain doll that the Cat Lady carries around. Tara excuses herself, visibly uncomfortable, as the Cat Lady exclaims, "Punctuality is the thief of time, dear!" as Tara makes an excuse to leave.

The Cat Lady is next shown in a scene after Art shoots Tara, rocking the cradle she made for Emily back and forth. After hearing the sounds of gunshots, she tells Emily, "It's only the wind, it can't hurt you. I won't let anything hurt you. I guess the new neighbors weren't such a good idea after all." She then goes back to rocking the cradle back and forth. The Cat Lady goes downstairs and witnesses Art fatally shooting Tara several times in the face, causing her to run. She comes across Mike and alerts him. Mike becomes hostile after the Cat Lady fails to be more specific and Mike pushes her to the ground. The Cat Lady goes back to her hideout to find her doll Emily gone. She goes searching for Emily and discovers Art, sitting criss-cross in a long hallway, cradling the doll. The Cat Lady actually acknowledges here that the doll is not her daughter, but in actuality a doll, and says, "Give that to me." She asks Art, "Please.. Don't hurt my little girl.", and Art puts a finger over his mouth and lets out a shushing sound. The Cat Lady tells Art that he is "frightening her", and talks to the doll, saying, "Emily, it's okay! Mommy's here.", as Art plays with the doll. As the Cat Lady approaches, she kneels down next to Art. "Is there kindness in you? Somewhere in your heart.. Have you ever felt a mother's touch?" asks the Cat Lady, and Art gives the Cat Lady an unnerving glare. She asks Art to spare her daughter, and reaches her hand out to stroke Art's cheek. Art and the Cat Lady both smile, as Art looks down and begins to suck his thumb, mimicking a child, as the Cat Lady hugs Art.
